HIFU treatment consists of the application of a high-frequency and high-energy ultrasound beam to produce cell destruction or cell necrosis by raising the temperature (thermal ablation). HIFU emits ultrasonic energy in a concentrated form in a beam of light, in the same way as a magnifying glass with the sun's rays, but without causing any damage to the tissues.
